Korean shipbuilders report LNG carrier ordering spree
In the last few days of December 2020, South Korean shipbuilders are witnessing a surge in liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier orders. Since 21 December, Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) secured orders for the construction of eight LNG carriers and Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co. (KSOE) for nine LNG carriers.
CMA CGM names 4th 23,000 TEU LNG-powered boxship
French container shipping major CMA CGM has named its fourth LNG-powered 23,000 TEU ultra large containership, the CMA CGM Louvre. The naming ceremony was held on December 22 in Shanghai. She is the 4th of the nine 23,000 LNG-powered vessels CMA CGM ordered back in 2017, built by Jiangnan Shipyard.
NEL Hydrogen to deliver PosHYdon electrolysis system
Norway’s NEL Hydrogen ASA has won the contract to deliver the offshore electrolysis system for the PosHYdon project in the Dutch North Sea.
