Image courtesy of WärtsiläThe technology group Wärtsilä’s contract to supply its LNGPac units for two shuttle tankers being built for Singapore-based AET Tankers, brought the total orders number to 100.
AET Tankers will feature Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel auxiliary engines running primarily on LNG fuel, and fitted with LNGPac units, the statement reads.
The system comprises a bunkering station, the LNG fuel tank and related process equipment, as well as the control and monitoring system.
The order was booked in March with the equipment scheduled for delivery to the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard commencing in the autumn of this year, Wärtsilä said.
Wärtsilä’s scope of supply for each of these ships includes the VOC recovery plant, the liquefied VOC fuel tank, the fuel mixing unit, the LNG fuel tank and fuel supply system, the gas valve unit (GVU) and two Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel auxiliary engines.
The order bumped Wärtsilä to a milestone of 100 orders for the LNGPac system.
The first LNGPac installation was for the chemical tanker Bit Viking owned by Swedish operator Tarbit, that was converted for LNG fuel operation in 2011.
Today the LNGPac is installed on some 12 or more different types of vessel, including passenger ferries, tugs, dredgers and offshore vessels, the company said.
