Senex Energy has awarded the contract to build critical infrastructure for the development, including the gas processing facility, to the Brisbane-based EPC service provider Wasco.

The contract award follows the final investment decision last month, Senex said in a statement on Monday.

Wasco started early works for construction of the modular gas processing facility with an initial capacity of 16 TJ/day.

The facility is capable of being expanded rapidly to 24 TJ/day, Senex said.

The contract also includes construction of a 6-km transportation pipeline to infrastructure operated by GLNG and a metering station.

Commissioning of the processing facility is targeted for the fourth quarter of the FY19.

Project Atlas is expected to produce material volumes of gas for the domestic market. The primary objective of the project’s development program is to reach plateau production of 32 TJ/day (approximately 2 mmboe per annum), with an additional 8 TJ/day of installed redundant capacity available.

The Western Surat Gas project will initially focus on the progressive development of the Glenora and Eos blocks, and appraisal of the Mimas and Tethys blocks (collectively, Roma North).

The primary objective is to reach minimum initial production of 16 TJ/day (approx. 1 mmboe per annum), with potential for expansion to 24 TJ/day.
