Dutch towage company Smit Lamnalco secured a new exclusive license by Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) to provide towage services in the port of Gladstone.
The license will commence on 1 January 2019 for a five-year term, with an option to extend for a further three years to 31 December 2026, the company said in its statement.
Smit Lamnalco has been providing harbor towage services at the Port of Gladstone since 2011.
Eleven tugs will be deployed to service both harbor and LNG customers.
The Port of Gladstone is one of Queensland’s largest multi-commodity ports shipping cargoes that include coal, bauxite, alumina, aluminium, cement and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
