India’s H-Energy, a unit of real estate group Hiranandani, inaugurated its FSRU-based LNG terminal at Jaigarh Port in Maharashtra.
The FSRU GDF Suez Cape Ann, chartered for the project, arrived at the location over the weekend.
The terminal, with a 4 mtpa LNG handling capacity is scheduled to begin commercial operation by the fourth quarter of 2018.
The FSRU GDF Suez Cape Ann is capable of reloading LNG onto other vessels, H-Energy stressed in its statement on Wednesday, as it aims to provide storage, re-gasification, re-loading, fuel bunkering and truck loading services to the Indian industries that are showing increasing demand for the chilled fuel.
When operational, the re-gasified LNG will be supplied to customers, through a 60-km tie-in pipeline which shall be connected to national gas grids at Dabhol, H-Energy said.
Speaking at the inauguration, Darshan Hiranandani, MD & CEO, H-Energy said, “inaugurating the first FSRU project and Jetty infrastructure is a key milestone towards completion of this LNG terminal project.”
He added that the FSRU-based approach reduces the time taken for commissioning of such projects
