Hamburg-based Nauticor, a unit of Linde, said the world’s largest LNG bunker vessel, the 7,500-cbm Kairos was officially christened at the Hamburg Cruise Center Steinwerder.
The construction of the vessel started in 2016 and in February 2018, steel cutting took place at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) in Ulsan, South Korea, from where the vessel was delivered in October 2018, Nauticor noted in its statement on Monday.
Nauticor chartered the Kairos via the joint venture Blue LNG, where it has a 90 percent share and Lithuanian energy infrastructure provider KN (Klaipedos Nafta) has a 10 percent share, from the owner Babock Schulte Energy.
The vessel started operations in December last year in Northwest Europe and at the end of last month, it took part in a milestone for Klaipedos Nafta and Lithuania’s LNG import facility as it completed the 20th small-scale liquefied natural gas reloading operation.
