Tractebel, an Engie company, has been appointed to provide technical consulting services to Polskie LNG for its LNG terminal expansion program at Świnoujście in Poland.
Polskie LNG is the operator and owner of the President Lech Kaczyński’s LNG terminal in Świnoujście. The company launched the construction of the plant in 2010, and the LNG terminal has been in operation since 2016.
The main task of Tractebel is to support the investor in defining the detailed scope of work related to the expansion of the plant and provide technical assistance in the tender procedure for the expansion of the LNG terminal, the company said in its statement.
The scope includes the development of technical documentation for the selection of the general contractor for the terminal expansion program, the construction of the second jetty, the third process storage tank and the LNG-to-rail reloading installation together with a railway siding.
At the end of January, Polskie LNG obtained a set of environmental and location permits for all projects to be implemented under the LNG terminal expansion program.
The expansion of the President Lech Kaczyński facility in Świnoujście is a response to the growing market demand for natural gas in Central and Eastern Europe and in the entire Baltic Sea region.
