Houston-based LNG engineer KBR has been awarded a technical verification and open book estimate (OBE) engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract by Pieridae Energy for a two-train 10 mmtpa LNG facility at Goldboro, Nova Scotia.

KBR said on Monday that would perform a review of an amended version of the previously prepared front-end engineering and design (FEED) study for the proposed Goldboro LNG facility.

The company will also conduct an open-book estimate necessary for an engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning contract for the facility with the intention of entering into an EPC contract at FID.

According to the company, this work is expected to be performed within the next 11 months.

Goldboro is the only LNG project on Canada’s east coast that has both permits for its current stage of development and an offtake customer, Uniper.

It is expected to produce about 10 million tonnes of LNG per year and have an on-site storage capacity of 690,000 cubic meters of LNG.
